Caprese Skewers — A Quick-No Bake-Easy Assembly Holiday Appetizer

It doesn’t get any easier than this. With just a few store-bought ingredients, you can make a delicious and beautiful appetizer in way less time than it takes to assemble a Barbie Dream House. And let’s face it–who has time to make anything complicated this time of year.

INGREDIENTS FOR CAPRESE SKEWERS
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Small mozzarella balls
  • Buitoni pesto–or you can make your own
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Festive toothpicks
It really is just this simple.

My basil in the garden has gone to seed so I had to buy this batch at the market.

Cut the tomatoes in half.

Cut the mozzarella balls in half too. I think it’s easier to eat them when they’re smaller.

Assemble…basil leaf, tomato half, mozzarella half, tomato half. That’s it. Then line them up on a nice holiday platter.

Put just a dab of pesto on each mozzarella ball.

And you’re done. They can be made a few hours in advance and are best served at room temperature.
