Jake came home from college last Friday and the one thing he wanted to do was make make his now-famous guacamole.
It took some cajoling on my part to get him to share his recipe, but since it was Mother’s Day, he relented–under one condition. I was allowed to do only two shots…ingredients before and guac after. He wasn’t about to pose with each step of the process. So I made the deal. Here’s a photo of all the ingredients…he wanted me to remind you to add salt and pepper to taste. The cilantro, green onion and sweet limes (the secret ingredient I had to beg him to let me share) are fresh from the garden.
He’s in the kitchen now and I’m steering clear until I can go back and take the “after” shot. In the meantime, I’ll update you with some current garden shots. It’s amazing what a week of warm sunshine will do.
Corn always amazes me.
Tomato cages and onions in bloom
Tomatoes, beans, peppers and herbs.
I’m always battling bugs and now the birds have arrived and are devouring my blueberries. When I was in Italy last fall I noticed they tied Mylar to trees and vines to shoo away the birds so I’m trying that. I’ll let you know if it works. It’s a little disheveled looking but right now I’ll try anything.
I love watching the progress of the veggies. Here are some of my favorites:
Red Romaine
Baby Zucchini
Heirloom tomatoes
Blue Lake Green Beans
Bell Peppers
And now…the finished product. Jake’s famous guacamole…which is always best served with Laguna’s own Have’A Corn Chips.
Enjoy!
